About the Event

The Chicago Mayoral Runoff Forum, hosted by Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., AKARAMA Foundation, Inc., and Coalition of African American Leaders (COAL), is a public event that brings together Mayoral Candidates, Brandon Johnson and Paul Vallas. Vallas and Johnson received the most votes out of nine candidates during the February 28th Election. Neither candidate received 50% + 1 of the votes so an election runoff is required between the aforementioned candidates to determine who will be the next Mayor of Chicago.

The Emcee of the event will be Art Norman of NBC Chicago. The forum will be moderated by The Honorable Travis Richardson (Retired) and retired Chicago Sun-Times Journalist, Maudlyne Ihejirika. The forum will consist of a series of questions asked to each candidate. The questions will cover a range of topics, such as public safety, education, housing, economic development, immigration and the environment.

The forum provides an opportunity for our community to better understand the candidates’ policies, plans, and ideas on important issues that impact the city and its residents. Voters will be able to hear directly from the candidates and make an informed decision about who they want to support in the April 4th Municipal Runoff Election.

Overall, the Chicago Mayoral Runoff Forum is an important event that helps to inform voters and ensure that the candidates running for office are held accountable for their proposed policies, plans and commitments.
